Frequently Asked Questions?

Does it hurt?

We use very effective pain control used during all treatments. A topical pre-numb is used prior to your treatment.  After the skin is penetrated we use topical anaesthetics which are quick and very effective in controlling any discomfort.

How will it affect me after the treatment?

You may experience some swelling and tenderness, this will subside in the days after your treatment, how long depends on each individual most recover within 24 to 48 hours.
Your colour may appear darker initially, some may experience some slight exfoliation in whichy our colour may soften losing 20 to 40% of colour. It takes 4 to 6 weeks for colour to mature in the skin, any adjustments are made at your perfecting session.

What type of pigments used?

Dorme and Solution pigments are formulated with Iron Oxides which are known to be safe for cosmetic use, our pigments also have a different texture and quality. They do not dry out like most.

Other brands of pigments boast to have organic compounds, but organic is not always the best choice.
Allergies can be more common in organic substances. Some people are allergic to vegetable dye, and pigments with vegetable dye are not stable.
Some brands even use industrial colors similar to automobile paint! This can be dangerous and can cause an allergic reaction.
In addition to iron oxides, our black shades are carbon based, which has the same chemical makeup as what is naturally found in our bodies, so there is even more precaution against any chances of an allergic reaction.

Initially after the treatment the tattoo can look drawn on and colour will appear stronger but will diminish after the first 4 to 14 days.
Your colour may soften so much so that you may feel its too soft, especially if lighter colours are chosen just remember your perfecting session will layer your colour and any adjustments (tightening of lines and shading) will happen at this time also.

It will take 4 to 6 weeks to fully mature and deepen in the skin.

How will I feel immediately after the treatment?

Firstly there may be some swelling this depends on the individual and procedure chosen.
I would recommend to be aware not to have your treatment just prior to any social events allow a few days to a week for your tattoo to settle and heal.
You will be able to continue your normal day activities or work after your procedure, if you feel unsure organize the day off or limit your days activities.

How long will my colour last, do I need to maintain it?

Your tattoo will need to be maintained anywhere from 6 months to 2 years or more depending on these variables just to mention a few.
• Yours skins own metabolism
• How well you look after your tattoo post procedure
• Colour choice, lighter colour has less life than darker colours
• How much UV you are exposed to and how often
• How much sun damage you have
• Age of your skin, younger skin will in most cases hold colour better than mature skin

What is the cost of my touch up?

Your touch up pricing depends on:

Whether or not you need only one treatment, this is why it is important you maintain your colour and touch up regularly. A good indication is that you feel you need to pencil in or your colour isn’t as intense as you would like it to be. If you are not sure call for a check up we can let you know if you are needing a touch up.
If you leave your tattoo too long and need layering (two treatments) then you will be charged for a full treatment.

Will black pigments stay black?

All black pigments eventually turn a blue to grey tone, this is the base colour of black and is an indication that you will need a touch up.
Darker skins tend to have more of a chance of throwing more blue undertones other options are available this is why a consultation is important.
